Who should take part in your online courses?
Our online courses are best suited for:
- Small to mid-sized business owners
- People considering a startup venture
- Virtual Assistants looking to branch out
- Bookkeepers brushing up on their skills
- Office administrators and secretaries
- Job seekers for increased marketability
Of course, we feel that anyone can benefit from our courses, as they provide increased confidence and solid skills for a wide range of job opportunities, marketability or self-improvement.
Why should I take a course in bookkeeping?
Bookkeeping is an ever-present requirement for all types of businesses. There are industry-specific benefits as well:
If you're a business owner, you'll manage your business with more confidence and also save money. If you're a virtual assistant, you can offer your clients a new service.
If you seek employment, you may have a wider range of opportunities available to you. There is a need for the service and there will always be demand for good bookkeepers.
What are the benefits of taking an online course?
Traditional classroom environments offer good benefits. Online courses provide more advantages. An online course means you can learn from your own home or office any time of the day you choose. There is no commute and online learning fits into your life schedule easily.
Online courses offer more benefits, too, such as increased confidence through self-sufficient study, improved time management and organizational skills and demonstrated dedicated effort.
What will I learn in each course?
For an overview of what each course will teach you, please read our Class Descriptions.
Who teaches these courses?
Heather Villa, a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and an Intuit QuickBooks™ Certified Pro Advisor with over a decade of experience with the Intuit QuickBooks™ system, provides instruction for each course.
Heather is also the CEO of IAC Professionals, an international accounting and consultation company.
Can I use these courses to become a CMA?
To be a CMA or a CPA, individuals must have university degrees in Accounting or the equivalent and a specific number of years of experience in the field. Our online courses do not fill the requirements to become a CMA or a CPA.
However, completing some of IAC University's online courses prepares individuals for the Intuit QuickBooks Certified Pro Advisor exam. On successful completion of the exam, individuals receive up to 16 CPE (continuing professional education) credits.
How long do courses last?
Our online courses last for five weeks. This five-week session includes four weeks of course instruction, study and assignments and a one-week exam period.
Can't I just buy a book to learn on my own?
You can self-educate through many different resources, one of which includes books and guides. However, self-education means that there is no individual to answer your questions or work closely with you when you have difficulty understanding a specific concept.
Self-learning through books also means that there is no one to correct any mistakes you may make or provide feedback on your progress.
Also, books are not guaranteed to be written by qualified professionals, whereas course instructors generally have pertinent credentials for teaching students.
How much time will I have to spend studying?
That depends on you. Every person is unique and some people learn more quickly than others do. You will determine your own pace for studying and the time you need to invest in the course.
However, students can expect to spend up to one hour a day working on assignments or studying course material to receive a passing grade.
Do I need to buy any books for the online courses?
No. IAC University provides all course material except for the Intuit QuickBooks software. Students may purchase QuickBooks through IAC University to receive a special discount from Intuit on the purchase price.
What level of course instruction is best for me?
We offer various courses based on your current level of experience, from beginners with little or no bookkeeping knowledge to experienced accountants interested in learning the QuickBooks software system.
For more information on course information to know which level fits your needs best, please visit our Programs and Certificates page.
What type of learning is best for me?
People are unique and learn in different ways, which is why we offer three methods of education to accommodate all types of individual preferences.
Our web classrooms are perfect for people who enjoy learning in a group environment to benefit from enhanced learning with peers.
Our live group courses are perfect for people who prefer smaller groups with more personalized instruction to benefit from attention that is more devoted.
Our one-on-one courses are perfect for people who need specific, individualized instruction geared to their level of knowledge and needs, who have busy, tight schedules or who prefer learning alone.
What computer requirements do I have to have to take part in online courses?
Our web classroom and live sessions require broadband Internet connection and Internet Explorer 6.0 (or higher) or FireFox web browser.

How does one-on-one training work?
One-on-one training involves students using the online web classroom to access course material and study and work assignments.
You and your instructor will meet once a week in a web conference via a live messenger program that allows you to view your instructor's desktop screen and vice versa. Students have the opportunity to ask questions, receive immediate answers or receive direct help with tasks.
One-on-one training is the most intimate, personalized level of training possible and has a very high success rate.
What is the difference between a live group class and a web-based classroom?
A web-based classroom is a classroom accessed online through a web browser.
Live group classes access the same web classroom, but courses include extra time for twice-weekly web conference meetings where students may review problems, tasks and assignments with their peers and the instructor via screen sharing tools.
How do I participate in weekly conferences?
Students communicate in weekly conferences using text-message forum boards.
What is the passing grade for courses?
The passing grade for all of IAC University's courses is 70% or C.
How much do courses cost?
To learn more about registration costs for our online classroom, live group and one-on-one personalized instruction, please view our registration page.
How can I pay for courses?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover credit cards. We also accept PayPal and ACH payment.
What are the registration dates for sessions?
Registration dates are class-specific. Please view our course schedule page for specific registration dates for each online course.
Why do you limit your registrations to 25 people?
When groups are too large, students often become overwhelmed or feel they can't ask their questions. Course instructors have difficulty offering many students direct, personalized attention.
Smaller groups offer enhanced education potential and distinct advantages. In smaller learning environments, students have the chance to ask questions, get answers and learn from their peers as well as from more focused attention from the instructor.
Will I receive a certificate or degree from IAC University?
We offer three curriculums that grant certificates as follows:
- Entry Level Intuit QuickBooks™ Bookkeeper Certification Program
- Intermediate Intuit QuickBooks™ Bookkeeper Certification Program
- Advanced Intuit QuickBooks™ Bookkeeper Certification Program
Does the government recognize the credits for your courses?
Our online courses prepare you for the Intuit QuickBooks Certified Pro Advisor exam. Students who receive a passing grade for the exam receive 16 CPE (continuing professional education) credits.
Why do you offer these courses?
We believe that our courses offer great advantages to small business owners, individuals and those seeking new opportunities. Our courses help people save time and money while also becoming more self-sufficient and confident.
Why should I choose your courses over someone else's?
The choice of educational facility is a personal one. You should take the best courses for your needs and through universities or educational facilities that offer valuable instruction.
We fit the criteria for recommended training. Our course instructor, Heather Villa, is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and an Intuit QuickBooks™ Certified Pro Advisor with over a decade of experience with the Intuit QuickBooks™ system. She offers strong credentials and qualifications to provide instruction in the accounting and bookkeeping field.
Our highly focused courses give you hands-on training and comprehensive, practical information so that you achieve greater value for your investment.
What happens if I don't pass a course?
It's important to understand that successful completion of online courses depends on the individual's time investment for studying and completing course assignments.
While we provide all course materials and comprehensive instruction, missed assignment deadlines, little study time and low participation in courses may result in a failing grade.
If you do not receive a passing grade after taking one of our courses, there are a few options. You may choose to take the course again or opt for one-on-one training to get specific help in particular areas for better understanding.
If I register but can't attend a course, can I get my money back?
Should you register for one of our online courses and find yourself unable to participate, please contact us. We will happily arrange to reschedule your registration for a future course.
Will I become a QuickBooks Certified Pro Advisor if I take your courses?
By taking our online courses, you accumulate all the knowledge required to take the QuickBooks Certified Pro Advisor Exam.
How do I become a QuickBooks Certified Pro Advisor?
Once you have successfully completed all the courses required to you should be able to successfully pass the Intuit given QuickBooks Certified Pro Advisor exam.
